Harriet Tubman Wins Online Vote to Become New Face of $20 Bill

A campaign to diversify the American currency, by a group called Women on 20s, has concluded their online petition to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill. The campaign, which quickly went viral last month, offered supporters the opportunity to vote on who they would like to see on a twenty dollar bill.

The first round of voting had people choose from 15 women to four finalists, with Harriet Tubman, Wilma Mankiller, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Rosa Parks making the cut. In the final round of voting, Harriet Tubman received the highest number of votes — 118,328. Eleanor Roosevelt came in second place with 111,227 votes. Over 300,000 people took part in the votes.

Catholic Women Organisation President Says Women's Dressing To Blame For Rape?

Ngozi Chukwuji, the President of Catholic Women Organisation of Nigeria (CWO), is reported to have said that the way women dress is the leading cause of increases in cases of rape. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), she said that "clothes that expose sensitive areas of the female body provoke sexual urge."

“What we are facing in our society is really amazing, even some of us that are married, the way we dress does not portray us as good mothers or good parents. So, we’ve been talking to our women, if you have a tailor that sews, you should be able to cover your body very well.

“Decency matters, while a lot of rapists are outside, its the way we dress, that attracts these people to us, our manners, our dressing portrays our manners, our dressing brings out the way we are.

This Girl Can! New Ad Encourages Women To Get Your Sports On

A new ad campaign by the English Sports Council aka Sport England aims to encourage more women to take up sports and be more physically active.

Tagged, 'This Girl Can' the campaign kicks off with a TV ad which was launched January 12, 2014 featuring women of all shapes, sizes and ages getting stuck into sport and exercise. It has already been followed by print and digital campains featuring the women from the video.

The 90-second video shows normal women – no models were used – giving it their all, to a sound track of Missy Elliott’s Get Ur Freak On.

Floyd Mayweather broke up with his ex-fiancee Shantel Jackson several months ago with a lot of drama. He took every single thing he gave her during their five years together and displayed them on Instagram. He also shared receipts online showing that she had got abortions while with him.

Shantel may have kept quiet to all his tantrums, but now she's coming for payback. Shantel is suing the millionaire boxer for assault, battery, defamation, invasion of privacy, false imprisonment, and claimed he forced her to return her engagement ring at gun-point.

At the press conference, Shantel said

"There was a point in my relationship with Floyd that I thought we would be together forever. I loved him so much and I made sure that I took care of him the best I knew how.

I tried my best to make our relationship work by compromising and going to relationship counseling, but I finally realized that there was no hope and our relationship could not continue.

Female Teacher Applicants in Brazil Have To Prove They Are Virgin Or Not Sexually Active

At first I could not quite believe my eyes when I came across this story, but it is real and, as you might expect, it is all over the news.

The education department of the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil’s most populous, requires prospective female teachers to undergo a Pap smear to prove they are free of cancers, or to present a doctor’s certificate verifying that they are not sexually active.

Until recently, it also required women to have a colposcopy, a type of visual examination used to detect disease.

Women’s rights campaign groups have denounced the requirement as a gross violation of women’s privacy and their human dignity. Ana Paula de Oliveira Castro, a public defender of women’s issues in Sao Paulo, said:

Wunmi Obe Attacks Robin Williams’ Widow In Scathing and Heartless Open Letter

Wunmi Obe has used the further news that have come to light since his death by apparent suicide to pluck what she says are gaping holes in the statement released by the widow of late American comedian Robin Williams.

Susan Schneider wrote of her grief, and heartbreak at the loss of her husband and best friend, and asked for privacy. Read full statement HERE.

But Wunmi Obe, married to husband Tunde Obe for 16 years - and I'm sure she has seen her fair share of the ups and downs of marriage, including bad health, bad finances, infidelity, etc - is not granting Susan Schneider that privacy. Wunmi is not even extending a hand of sympathy or understanding as someone who has experienced celebrity death in the family.

Pastor Paul Adefarasin Lays Down the Law For Female Dressing, Bans Short Skirts

Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on The Rock Church laid down the law about ‘distracting’ female dressing in his Sunday sermon yesterday. He warned female members of the church who wear mini skirts to cease and desist.

“I will assume that the members that do this, are probably new or uninformed ones. But we don’t allow mini skirts in this church. If you must wear something short, make sure it covers your knees. Otherwise, an usher might need to come and complete your dressing.”

Surgeons Find Sex Toy Left For Ten Years Inside Woman's Vagina

After complaining of various health problems, a Scottish woman was found to have a sex toy inside her vagina – and that it had been left there for 10 years.

According to a report by STV News, the 38-year-old visited Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after contracting sepsis and experiencing severe weight loss and urinary incontinence. At the hospital, doctors conducted an X-ray of her abdomen, which showed the five-inch toy protruding into her bladder from her vagina.

The woman admitted to using the sex toy with her partner 10 years ago; she also noted that she had been under the influence of alcohol at the time and could not recall removing the toy.

Eleanor Beth Haswell, an 18 year old British student/artist, made the anatomically correct underwear as part of her senior high school project called “Why Are You So Afraid Of Your Own Anatomy,” about the ways in which women are scared and uncomfortable with their own bodies.

The reaction to the underwear, which labels the various parts of the vulva and vagina, has, been sorta mixed. But it was mostly males commenting on Twitter, “Laughable”, “Something of a buzzkill” and finally, “I just can’t.”

Kim Kardashian and Her Sisters Say Yes To the Question, "Can Women Have It All?"

Kim Kardashian and her sisters, Kourtney and Khloe, are business women in their own right and they were featured on CNBC's business segment "Closing Bell" last Monday. 

The CEOs or the various brands were asked about juggling their crazy schedules with family life, and if women could have it all, bearing in mind that PepsiCo CEO said it was not possible.

Kim confessed that it has been more difficult, especially since she had her daughter last June, but that having it all was possible with good prioritizing. She gave the credit to their mother, Kris Jenner, for instilling a strong work ethic in her children.
